Sheriff Toney Edwards is excited to announce the launch of a new program called APPROACH WITH CARE.  The program is aimed at helping law enforcement and first responders to quickly recognize that a person with special needs may be an occupant of the approaching vehicle or residence.  These special needs include, but is not limited to autism, epilepsy, down syndrome, diabetes, PTSD, hearing impaired, dementia and cerebral palsy.

Sheriff Edwards’ goal is to ensure that ALL interactions between law enforcement and a special needs person is handled in a positive, effective and safe manner for all involved.

Please complete the registration form below.  After the form is submitted, APPROACH WITH CARE decals will be mailed out.  These decals should be visibly placed on the rear glass of a vehicle or front entrance door of the residence where the special needs person may reside.

Should you have any questions, contact our Public Information Officer Tina Taliaferro at (318) 744-5411 or by email at [email protected].
