As a uniformed Sheriff’s Deputy, School Resource Officers provide a positive image of law enforcement in an effort to help young people make constructive choices in their lives. The School Resource Officers in Catahoula Parish are Tommy Williamson, Kelvin Mckay, and Richard Madison, they each strive to develop relationships within the school that are beneficial to the school, the students, and the Sheriff’s Office.
The School Resource Officer’s primary duty is to protect the school’s safe environment and to maintain an atmosphere where students, teachers, and staff feel safe enough to learn. This is a duty that the School Resource Officers take very seriously and consider it an honor to serve the community in this way.
The School Resource Officer investigates criminal activity occurring on school campuses. Although not a disciplinarian, the School Resource Officer conducts investigations with school administrators in accordance with Louisiana State Law, school policy, and the policy of the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office. The School Resource Officer only takes action when a violation has occurred.
